The High Rise Interview:

When was highrise established?

The High Rise Co was established in 2011 out of Erin’s one bedroom apartment with $1700 he saved while working at the skatepark. Originally it was a lifestyle clothing brand, but after starting a Youtube account and building a following in a short amount of time we realized it was something larger than apparel.

What skills does your team offer?

Our team has been built to create high quality social media content at a reasonable rate with a quick turnaround. We’ve built a team of photographers, videographers and a network of influencers to help cannabis brands grow their social media platforms. We also offer manufacturing production along with fulfillment for brands and the influencers we work with.

Why is producing cannabis related videos important to you?

Really its finding ways to combine things we love. We love cannabis, we love creating, we love social media and having the ability to reach people with a push of your thumb. Right now it’s especially exciting as laws on cannabis consumption are changing in real time. We get to connect with so many interesting people and grow this community and industry together. It really feels like we’re involved in something special.

What type of content are you striving to produce?

Content, period. From high quality photo/video, to iphone content, audio, meme’s, content, content, content. It’s all about consistency and volume, not getting analysis paralysis. Done is better than perfect. We love finding ways to get more done with less.

It’s interesting because our platforms (thehighriseco and HighriseTv) are what we like to call “420 hi-jinx”. 6 foot bong rips, crazy roll ups, stoner fun, etc. On the other hand we shoot high quality professional content for brands with our creative agency High Rise Media Co.

Why does High Rise TV incorporate skating and surfing culture, California styles living” your videos?

We grew up as skateboarders in Southern California. It’s our roots, everything we know comes from adventuring out of our city with our skateboards. Skating is why we picked up camera in the first place. Erin and I used to make skate videos and stupid skits back in the day, fast forward 12-13 years later and we’re still up to the same nonsense.

Shooting and advertising the skate culture is something that you can’t fake. Even people who don’t skate can identify a corny ad exploiting skating. We just want to stick to what we know and be authentic with it, we wouldn’t jump on a scene solely because it’s trending. Going back to finding ways to connect things we love. Shooting a video of a homie skating and smoking weed at a skate spot? That’s when work becomes play.

Any goals or big plans in the near future?

We’re getting an office in a new building in downtown LA being deemed “Silibong Valley”. In the 7 story building here will be 40+ cannabis brands, a private A-list smoking lounge, law firm, restaurant, “weed work” space and more. That should roll out by the end of summer. Until then we’re on the same program of taking care of our clients and hanging out with our stoner friends on IG and youtube.

How would you explain your team members?

We have a tight knit team of easy going, hard working individuals. Innitative is a big word in our office. Having the ability to see that something needs to be done and doing it without having to be told. When you’re a growing business with a small team and no investors, everyone wears a lot of hats. We aren’t just a photographer or videographer or copywriter or producer. We are ALL of those things. Everyone takes ownership and can really feel the growth together. It’s kind of like watching documentaries and hearing about the tough grind it out grassroots times that people miss after they’ve already made it.

How would you explain HighRiseTV?

HighriseTV is what we created to post our original 420 content. About 2 years after The High Rise Co was founded, Erin decided to start a youtube channel. After browsing 420 channels he saw there was only a handful, and they were crushing it. Originally it was Customgrow, Haley420, Silenced Hippie and a few more smaller channels. Our first upload was a world record hotbox where we hotboxed a dispensary with 305 grams of wax. We followed that up with the launch of 2 Girls 1 Bong and High AF w/. The channel grew fairly quickly and helped launch the careers of Macdizzle and Joya. Basically it’s a place for us to post our degenrate stoner fun. More recently, as High Rise Media Co has grown over the last year, we’ve changed directions a little. On youtube we are doing more vlogs showcasing what it is like running a business and being a part of this growing industry. We want our followers to know that you can smoke a gang of weed, have fun and start your own company…. As long as you work your ass off.

Cannabis Infused Coconut Oil

Coco

Recipe for Cannabis Coconut Oil

Written By: https://www.leafly.com

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of ground cannabis flower (or less for milder potency)
  • 1 cup of coconut oil

Hardware:

  • Strainer or cheesecloth
  • Grinder (a simple hand grinder works best; appliances like blenders and coffee grinder pulverize the cannabis, resulting in edibles with bad tasting plant material)
  • Double-boiler, slow cooker, saucepan, etc.

Directions:

  1. Grind the cannabis. You can include the entire plant, just the flower, a little bit of both — this is all a matter of preference. Just keep in mind that anything small enough to fit through the strainer will end up in your finished product, so again, do not grind your cannabis to a fine powder.
  2. Combine oil and cannabis in your double-boiler or slow cooker, and heat the two together on low or warm for a few hours. This allows for decarboxylation (activation of THC) without scorching (which destroys the active ingredients). Cooking can be done a variety of ways: in a slow cooker on low for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally; in a double-boiler on low for at least 6 hours (8 is better), stirring occasionally; or in a simple saucepan on low for at least three hours, stirring frequently (a saucepan is most susceptible to scorching). In all cases, a small amount of water can be added to the mixture to help avoid burning. Note: whatever method you choose, temperature of the oil should not exceed 245°F.
  3. Strain and store the oil. Do not squeeze the cheesecloth; this will simply add more chlorophyll to your oil. All remaining plant material can be discarded or used in other dishes if you have the wherewithal. The oil’s shelf life is at least two months, and can be extended with refrigeration.

Hi Everyone! I really wanted to share with you this recipe about how to make cannabis infused coconut oil, because it allows you to easily administer cannabis into things like coffee and tea, capsules you can make on your own, practically any dish you cook, sunscreens, tinctures, and so much more… Coconut oil contains sets of beneficial acids that have been known to have a list of potential health benefits. Also, when kept at room temperature, coconut oil will solidify, which allows you to use for a verity of Do It Yourself projects like making your own chap sticks, lip balms, face and body scrubs, and topicals. Cannabis infused coconut oil also is really yummy in edibles.. My personal favorite is in weed brownies, the hint of coconut is so good with the chocolate, and the coconut oil milds out the potent weed taste. I hope this recipe comes useful to you for many projects!!!

Guild Extracts is a company that has stood out to me since the beginning. This cannabis compliant company produces exceptional products like 10mg 1:1 THCa and CBD anti-inflammatory tablets, full spectrum high terpine extracts “sauce” cartridges, CBD crystalline and THC isolete powders perfect to dab, eat or sprinkle onto a bowl or joint, as well as Delta 8, a form of THC that produces an anxiolytic, appetite-stimulating, analgesic, result to the body with a lower psychotropic potency that THC 9, the primary form of THC found in cannabis. Guild strives to produce quality products for the growing  and changing cannabis industry. My favorite ways to use Guild products are dipping any flavor of dab into Guilds THC isolate powder to increase the amount of THC for a stronger high. I am also a huge fan of Guild’s high terpine extracts “sauce”  cartridges, which do not use any distillate, which is pretty hard to find when looking for cartridges. Over all, I think that Guild easily deserves a strong 5 star review for their outstanding, well run company.
